Toxicity Test of Cat Whiskers (Orthosiphon stamineus) and Miana (Coleus artropurpureus) Leaves Against Artemia salina Leach Using BSLT

Medicinal plants are a good source of therapeutic drugs because they contain phytochemical compounds. Cat's whiskers (Orthosiphon stamineus) and miana (Coleus artropurpureus) that widely used as herbal medicines. However, there no studies related to toxicology ensure its safety. The aim this study was determine the toxicity 96% ethanol extract cat leaves shrimp (Artemia salina Leach) larvae. Toxicity test carried out using Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) method with 48 hours old Artemia concentration 1 ppm, 2 3 4 ppm 5 ppm. results showed cat's had an LC50 value 8.0855 while 4.7067 Based on study, it can be concluded have potential developed candidates for anticancer drugs.
